Siriwathi Perera is a 28-year-old NYC taxi driver who discovers that her fare to JFK is dead, with a knife in his chest. She is immediately arrested and calls the Sri Lankan Legal Aid lawyer she recently met. Siri and Amaya embark on a vigorous investigation to find the real killer. The charm of this book lies not in its insights into the legal system or the murder investigation, but rather in its exploration of the challenges of being the American daughter of Asian immigrants. The author is Sri Lankan, previously worked at Legal Aid, and now works with the Innocence Project.
