Chain Reaction, Child & Child - A*

This is a lifetime achievement award for the series occasioned by decades of excellent entertainment. I recently did the same for Gabriel Allon. I'd love to also acknowledge Ian Rutledge, but I fear that series is over.

In this the 31st in the series, a former Army colleague finds and reaches out to Reacher for assistance. She's now a Brigadier General running a secret investigative unit in the Army. It is characterized as the Army's FBI. Someone has killed one of her men, and she's concerned about a leak in her operation. She, Reacher, and her number two track down the bad guys to a Palo Alto law firm. The lawyer is a middleman, and his client sounds an awful lot like a younger and more evil Elon Musk. From Colorado to the Bay Area and back, the two sides do battle, but in the end—as always—Reacher triumphs. This should go down as one of the best Reachers of all time.
